"When we bought our home in Avon Lake some years ago, it featured a 25 foot high fenced-off cliff overlooking Lake Erie, stretching 100 ft across. While the view was great, over time the soil at the edge of the cliff eroded to the point where parts of the fence were hanging in midair. We hired BVC Enterprises to do something about erosion control, and to add lake access. Apart from telling Mr. Votruba – Billy – that we wanted a dock and a fire pit, and establishing a budget, we really did not give him much direction. As it turned out, this was a very good thing!Under Billy’s direction and vision, we ended up with a magnificent piece of Lake Erie frontage, as unique when viewed from the water as it is from land. We now have three new levels from which to enjoy the lake, whether it’s fishing or boating from the new concrete dock, enjoying the huge firepit area at night, or simply relaxing with family and friends around the new giant stone table. Billy provided two sets of stone stairs for access, and lined all the new levels with beautiful huge soldier stones from his quarry. There are plenty of areas, from large beds to tiny crevices, for plantings. Best of all, because the stone Billy used is local, it all blends into the surrounding landscape seamlessly. Billy is extremely easy to work with, and both he and his staff are very responsive to phone calls, emails, and texts. Any concerns we had were quickly and thoroughly addressed, and the work was done within the allotted time frame with a minimum of disruption especially considering the huge scope of the project. We are thrilled with our new beautiful and functional back yard, and would be happy to recommend Bill Votruba and BVC Enterprises to anyone looking to create a unique look on their lakeside or riverside property!"Ania & Sabino at Avon Lake 4 Job

"My wife and I purchased a piece of property on the banks of the Black river. Our intension was to build our retirement home there and we did so with Billy’s help. The results are amazing. We were very fortunate to have Billy visit the site before house construction started, and his imagination took over. The first step was to shore up the river bank so we could build where we wanted and not worry about erosion taking out our yard or home. Billy got that done and it has stood the test of Mother Nature. The river usually runs 1-2' deep. We have seen with the spring thaws 10' deep and the bank is solid as can be. The pictures tell it all. After the wall was complete, Billy coordinated with the builder's schedule to add multiple walkways. Some were placed right up against the house so the seamless cooperation between the builder and Billy was essential. Besides the walkways, he also created a sandstone path that drops in elevation aprox. 40’ and stretches aprox. 200 feet. It starts on the upper level, next to the front of our house and ends on the other side of the Black river. It’s made with sandstone slabs from his quarry; some 6’ x 6’ others 6’ x 4’ etc. The end result was a driveway that gives us access to both sides of the river 12 months of the year (providing the river isn’t too high) for our golf car or tractor. Incredible! The final work done was the landscape garden hardscape. With the sandstone that comes from his quarry close by, it fits on our property like it has been here for thousands of years. Billy placed upright boulders, flat sandstone, and a selection of colored round boulders all around the house. Again pictures are worth a thousand words. I’m sure Donna will include many. Thanks Billy and crew. AMAZING!."

To Whom it May Concern:
This letter is intended to serve as a letter of reference for the referenced contractor.
Mr. William Vortuba, (dba BVC Enterprises, Inc.) is registered with the City of Bay Village as a Demolition Contractor and Excavation Contractor.
BVC Enterprises has a good record with this department and in the past has been contracted to do work for the City of Bay Village. There have been no complaints as to the quality of work or work ethics, to the best of my knowledge.
Sincerely,

To all it may concern,
We just wanted to put it out there that we had such a great working relationship and experience with “Votruba Enterprises”. We want to share our experience. If there was a scale of 1 to 4 stars we would give Mr. Votruba (If you know him any time at all he will tell you to call him Billy) 5 stars. Yes, I said on a scale of 1 to 4 we would give him 5.
Billy first came and looked at our project and then asked us for our ideas. He told us that he had to do things safe so he would have to revise things a bit. He said that we should trust him with how it would be done. Then he told us his plan and he was off. Within the week he had finished the most beautiful stairs and landing going down to the lake. To quote myself I told him that “I never thought we would have anything so beautifully done at OUR house.” It has been a lot of fun to show to our friends and family.
We have just started to landscape around his work which is making it even more beautiful. When you first call you will meet Donna Cassetta. She holds down the office and is very very nice to deal with. Make no mistake, Billy is serious about work but he is so much fun to deal with. We are very happy with our working experience but now we are sad because we miss seeing Billy every day. In any case, Thank you Votruba Enterprises, Thank you, Billy and Thanks to you too Donna Cassetta. We couldn’t be happier and would recommend you to anyone that needs this type of work done.

RE: BVC Enterprises – Bill Votruba
To say that our Vermilion lake front property presented a difficult challenge is an enormous understatement. Our house sits on a narrow lot, and the lakeside of the lot was dominated by two very large oak trees. Even before talking with contractors, we knew any project on the shoreline would be difficult, as there is no access to the waterfront from the street (because the lot is so narrow). We bought the house because we wanted access to the lake and because we loved the view from the 35-foot bluff above the lake. But, at the top of the bluff was a rickety wooden deck cantilevered over a pile of concrete debris at the shoreline. Half-way up the cliff, to help hold up the deck, the former owner had stacked large, marine concrete blocks which themselves were starting to give way. Otherwise, the deck teetered on only two large wooden posts. We discussed the removal of the deck, the concrete wall and the oak trees with a few contractors. No one wanted to tackle the job. In so many words, they basically were telling us that with the large trees and the tight space the demolition and removal of the deck (which had become an unsafe assortment of concrete block and rotting wood) posed a significant risk to their employees and equipment. There were just too many unknowns.
Billy was not deterred. He removed the deck and the oak trees, despite the obvious challenges. After the deck and oak trees were removed, and the concrete block reclaimed, our backyard looked like just a pile of dirt, clay and shale tumbling down to the lake. When I first saw the yard in this chaotic state I thought oh my word, what have we done. But Billy had only begun to create a masterpiece. We never could have imagined the result. At the shore, Billy built a foundation that both prevents erosion and gives us easy access to the water. Up above, he crafted three levels, each of which provides an awe inspiriting view of the lake, each better than the one before. Starting from our back door, a winding path of pavers bordered by massive sandstones slopes down to a broad patio on the first level, and the next path leads to another patio on a second level. Then a winding stairway whose gentle steps are massive stones leads down to a third level and the waterfront. The huge rocks are hardly cookie cutter. Each is unique, offering different shapes, sizes and textures, Billy’s own building blocks. The arrangement of upright rocks along the paths that serve as walls and benches leaves us narrow crevices where we have begun to add our own touches with greenery and flowers.
Billy worked hard on our project, and was always easy to work with. He communicated with us every step of the way, answering our questions and always responding in a timely way.
Letting BVC transform our property from an ugly accident waiting to happen to a paradise by the lake was the smartest decision we ever made.

Letter of referral for potential clients of BVC
Approximately ten years ago we relocated to Avon Lake, Ohio from an overseas assignment. While we were thrilled buying a home on Lake Erie, we had absolutely no access to the water. Our property had nice lake front but it was sheer cliff 30 feet down to the water.
Bill Votruba and his experienced crew began first by asking questions of how we wanted to use our land and access to the lake. We found it odd that others proposing shore work did not ask questions but simply made proposals of what they would do and the cost to do so. Bill carefully shaped his plans from our input and the end result was beyond our expectations.
We not only had access to the lake but three separate tiers including a fire pit to enjoy fabulous sunsets, a boat slip to either dock a boat or launch a wave runner and green space to grow trees, shrubs and flowers. Bill even built a golf cart ramp down to the boathouse to carry food, drinks and folks who need a ride.
The shore work not only gave our property functional access to the lake but it also enhanced the value of our home. We recently sold our home returning to Europe for another assignment. Safe to say, there was full return (and then some) for the investment made in shore construction and it also differentiated our property in sale attractiveness.
BVC were flexible and courteous which is a must for a project spanning over a year. I would definitely provide a strong recommendation for BVC.
